Lori Tolland was elected to the City Commission as City Commissioner for Zone 1 in November 2022. 

Education & Work History

Lori Tolland is a wife, mother, registered nurse, and community advocate who has been an Ormond Beach resident since 1989. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Mount St. Mary's University in 1980 and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Maryland in 1982. In 2010, she completed a refresher professional nurse program, including clinicals, at St. Petersburg College.

Lori's professional career as a perioperative nurse began at the East Coast Surgery Center, and she later worked as a nurse at Twin Lakes for Halifax Health. She also volunteered at the Jesus Clinic, a medical clinic that provides health care to the working poor.

Community Involvement

Lori has been actively involved in the community, serving as a City Commissioner for Zone 1 in 2022, a Planning Board Member from 2016 to 2022, and a Recreational Advisory Board/Leisure Services Board member since 2000. She is also a member of the Garden Club of Halifax Country since 2002 and currently serves as the Catholic Foundation of Central Florida Director- Development Chair and Executive Board member. Lori is a board member of Father Lopez Catholic High School and previously served as the PTA President for Tomoka Elementary School and as the Board President for Father Lopez Catholic High School.

Lori is a skilled leader and community advocate who excels in communication, team building, and organizational expertise. She is a public servant who is committed to utilizing her skills to serve the City of Ormond Beach. Among her accomplishments are chairing committees to reconstruct the Greenhouse at the Ormond Beach Art Museum and Gardens and creating the Port Orange Hospice Center Native Plant walkway. She initiated and chaired the first community gardens in Central Park and led projects such as LED lights at the airport fields, girls’ softball field upgrades, south Ormond Community center basketball upgrades, and the Limitless playground. Lori also chaired the Vadner Park project, a collaboration between the Garden Club of Halifax Country and the City of OB, which was a finalist for the Garden Club of America National Award. She was awarded the Garden Club of America Civic Volunteer Award in 2019 and the Garden Club of America Conservation Award in 2022.

Lori's faith is important to her, and she is a Prince of Peace parishioner who serves as a Minister of Holy Communion and assists with baptism preparation. She has also taught CCD classes in the past.

Family

Lori has been married to Tim for 42 years and has seven children, five of whom are married, and sixteen grandchildren. In her personal time, she enjoys gardening, playing tennis, and spending time with her family.
