Kent 2018 History as City Commissioner
Troy Kent, City Commissioner for Zone 2, was first elected in November, 2003. Commissioner Kent won re-election in 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2020.

Education & Work History
Commissioner Kent earned his associates degree from Daytona Beach Community College, his bachelor of science degree in Elementary Education from the University of Central Florida and his masters of science degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Commissioner Kent is ESOL Certified (English Speakers of Other Languages) and is also a National Board Certified teacher. He currently works as an Assistant Principal at Ormond Beach Middle School.

Community Involvement
Commissioner Kent has served on the following boards/committees: Ormond Beach MainStreet, Respect Campaign Daytona Beach, School Concurrency Volusia County Schools, Beachside Redevelopment Committee, and as a speaker for the Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce Leadership tour along with the community tourism roundtable sponsored by the Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce.

Commissioner Kent was raised in Ormond Beach.  He and his wife Heather are proud to raise their son in the same fantastic community. He is active in the following sports/activities: Little League baseball coaching, surfing, fishing, tennis, table tennis, and camping. His number one job/priority is raising his son Wyatt to grow up to be a good respectable man.
