[ARCHIVED] Notice of Construction Activity for the Granada Medians--Landscape Improvements

RJ Landscape Contractor, Inc., has been issued a notice to proceed for the Granada Medians installation of plant materials and irrigation work on November 4, 2019.  The project will start on the west side of the I-95 overpass and includes the four I-95 overpass side slopes.  All trees and palms on all four of the side slopes will remain, new shrubs and ground covers will be added in areas where restoration is necessary.  The medians that will receive upgrades will be from the first median on the east side of the  I-95 overpass to Orchard Street.  A total of twenty-one medians will receive upgrades with the removal of the declined Holly, Crape Myrtle and Oak trees.  This project involves installing Medjool palms, Crape Myrtle and Live Oak trees, shrubs, ground covers, retrofitting the existing irrigation system to be placed on central timers and connecting to the existing reuse water main.  The retrofitting of the irrigation work requires directional drilling to connect the existing medians together, so conduit and mainline pipe can be installed.  The installation of the trees and palms will require a lane closure which would be night work per FDOT standards and this work would start in March 2020.  The entire project is expected to be completed by early summer.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this project, please call Cara Culliver, City Landscape Architect, at 386-676-3288.
