City of Ormond Beach is pleased to announce that Richard J. Sievers has been
selected as the City’s new Fire Chief. Chief Sievers will join the Ormond
Beach Fire Department on August 13, 2018, bringing almost 40 years of
experience to the position.
Sievers began his fire service career with the City of Lauderhill in 1979,
working in every rank through Assistant Fire Chief. In 1999, he retired
from Lauderhill and joined the City of Lauderdale Lakes Fire Rescue Department
as Fire Chief. For the last 14 years, Chief Sievers served as Fire Chief
for the Broward Sheriff’s Office where he was in charge of the Fort
Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport, Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, Cooper City,
and Deerfield Beach. Chief Sievers has also served as Regional
Coordinator for the State of Florida Statewide Emergency Response Plan for
Sievers holds an Associate's Degree in Fire Science from Broward College, an
Associate's Degree in Business Management, and a Bachelor's Degree in Business
Administration from Northwood University.
He is a state certified Fire Instructor-III, an Emergency Medical
Technician and a Fire Safety Inspector/ Plan Reviewer. He also holds the designation of CFO, Chief
Fire Officer, from the Center for Public Safety Excellence. Chief Sievers
is a member of the Florida Fire Chiefs Association and the International
Association of Fire Chiefs.
