Crowder Gulf, the City's debris removal contractors, completed the first pass on October 8, and are underway with the final pass. 

As of the close of business on Sunday, October 8, 2,240 loads of debris had been collected (102,344 cubic yards) in twenty-three days.  Additionally, 20 leaning trees and 3,653 hanging limbs have been removed.  

The debris removal crews are in neighborhoods throughout the City seven days a week from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.  Attached is a map of areas where a first pass has occurred as indicated by red dots.  Each dot does not represent a household, but rather an area where debris has been pushed into a pile and picked up. Root balls and large stumps will be removed after all other storm debris has been removed.

Volusia County is responsible for debris removal on County roads within the City of Ormond Beach as well as that debris in unincorporated areas of Volusia County with Ormond Beach addresses.  The County recently hired Phillips & Jordan, Inc., to serve as their debris removal contractor which began work on Friday, September 29.  They began on the peninsula and are moving westward.  By keeping the storm debris collection specific to each local jurisdiction (i.e. City, County or State), then each jurisdiction can maintain eligibility for FEMA reimbursement for its debris removal efforts.

To help residents throughout Volusia County dispose of vegetative debris from Hurricane Irma, the County has opened temporary residential debris reduction drop-off sites that will be open from 7 AM to 6 PM seven days a week through Sunday, October 22, at the following locations:

• Tomoka Landfill, 1990 Tomoka Farms Road, Port Orange
• Old Plymouth Landfill, 1991 W. Plymouth Avenue, DeLand
• Intersection of Rhode Island Avenue and Veterans Memorial Parkway, Orange City

Volusia County residents and small landscape-type businesses may bring Hurricane Irma vegetative debris only to drop-off sites without charge.  Residents must show proof of residency, and small landscape-type businesses will need to complete a form to drop-off debris at the sites.  The only debris that will be accepted is vegetative debris (leaves, branches, and cut trees) which has not been bagged.  If you have any questions, or need more information, please call Volusia County's debris hotline at 386-507-5166 from 8 AM to 7 PM Monday through Sunday

In the City of Ormond Beach, if you hire a contractor for tree removal services, they are required to remove the debris from your property and properly dispose of it pursuant to City of Ormond Beach Code of  Ordinances, Section 10-65, Contractor Debris.  

Also, please be advised that open burning of commercial waste, residential trash, garbage, lawn debris, clippings, trees or other debris on residential, commercial or industrial property is prohibited within the City. (City of Ormond Beach Code of Ordinances, Section 9.2)
