[ARCHIVED] FEMA Has Approved Individual Assistance for Volusia County

Volusia County residents whose primary residence sustained damages from Hurricane Irma, who are not covered by insurance or who are underinsured, are now eligible to register/apply for Individual Assistance from FEMA.

If your primary residence was damaged and you have insurance, call your insurance company to file an insurance claim as FEMA will not duplicate assistance for losses covered by insurance.  You may still be eligible for assistance from FEMA for damages not covered by your insurance.

Registering/applying is your first step in getting disaster assistance.  If eligible, disaster assistance can pay for uninsured or underinsured home repairs, temporary housing, personal property and other needs through its programs.

You can register/apply online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov, or by calling FEMA toll free at 800-621-FEMA (3362).  Applicants using 711 or Video Relay Service may also call 800-621-3362.  Applicants who are deaf, hard of hearing or have a speech disability and a TTY, please call 800-462-7585.  Multilingual operators are available.

The registration/application process takes approximately 15-20 minutes.  Before calling or going online to register/apply, having the information below will help to speed up the process:

•           Social Security number

•           Telephone number where he/ she can be reached

•           Address of the damaged property

•           Current mailing address

Residents with damages are encouraged to register/apply as soon as possible.
