Green Ormond Beach

The City of Ormond Beach made a commitment to address its impact on global climate change by adopting the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy (EECS) report on August 17, 2010. This official strategy for the City meets the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant requirements and provides justification for future grant opportunities.

This comprehensive report outlines the City's current policies, procedures and programs which reduce carbon emissions and energy consumption. Also, the strategy identifies agencies and establishes programs from which the City will coordinate the implementation of new energy efficient programs and community educational outreach programs. The report includes the results of the City's greenhouse gas inventory, identifying current energy usage and fuel consumption for reducing the carbon footprint of the City of Ormond Beach.

Ormond Beach turns green into silver! The Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC) has designated the City of Ormond Beach as a Florida Green Local Government after it successfully met the sustainability standards established in the FGBC Green Local Government Certification program. Ormond Beach earned a silver level designation. The Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC) created a recognition program to designate Green Cities and Green Counties for outstanding environmental stewardship. The program uses energy, air, water, land and waste as benchmarks when looking at environmental practices done "in-house," incentives and ordinances to foster green practices, and educational activities to improve the environment.
