There are seven members of the Planning Board, five appointed by each member of the City Commission, and two appointed at large. Members are required to file financial disclosures. 


The board is governed by Section 1.06 of the Land Development Code. The Planning Board reviews and makes recommendations to the City Commission regarding all applications for Comprehensive Plan amendments, rezoning, and Land Development Code text changes. The Planning Board conducts public hearings as necessary for the drafting, establishment, and maintenance of the Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Code. 

It is the responsibility of the Planning Board to make recommendations to the City Commission regarding ordinances, land development regulations, and other proposals promoting orderly development in accordance with the Comprehensive Plan.

SE 2018-048, 160 Business Center Drive, Child Care Facility Special Exception
This is a request for a Special Exception from Kid City USA Acquisitions, Inc., with authorization of the property owner Fifth Third Bank, to re-establish a child care facility at 160 Business Center Drive.  The property at 160 Business Center Drive is zoned I-1 (Light Industrial) and the child care facility use is allowed as a Special Exception.  The subject property was previously issued a Special Exception with Resolution 2007-86, but the approval expired because the site was vacant.  The applicant seeks to re-establish the child care facility use with no site or building modifications proposed.
