Wastewater Treatment Program

Responsibilities

The City’s wastewater treatment section is responsible for treating and disposing of approximately four million gallons per day (MGD) of raw sewage received from the City’s wastewater collection in a manner meeting or exceeding all pertinent regulatory standards as monitored by the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) and guided by U. S. Environmental Protection Agency regulations. 

Facility Maintenance & Operation

Competent, State-licensed operators monitor and perform the operation of the City’s six MGD Wastewater Treatment Facility. This section is also responsible for the compliant operation of approximately 80 lift stations serving the collection system pumping needs for delivery to the wastewater treatment facility. 

Reuse Water Production

This program produces approximately 840 million gallons of reuse water annually, providing an available alternative water source for irrigation needs for 2,345 reuse customers in addition to two golf courses.
