The
Ormond Beach Police Department is responsible for patrol, traffic control,
animal enforcement, criminal investigations, and enforcing the laws of the State
of
Florida
and the Code of Ordinances of Ormond Beach.
The department is committed to Community Policing and is a recognized leader
in this area on the state and
national level.

The
department’s organization structure includes:
-
Administration
-
Operations Division
-
Support Services Division
-
Investigative and Specialized Services Division
The
Police Department responds to approximately 65,000 calls for service annually
and also provides several specialized community outreach programs, including:
the Police Athletic League, Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE), and the
Victim Advocate Program.
The
Department has an annual operating budget of approximately $5 million, with a
staff of about 65 sworn officers and 35 civilian personnel.
In
May, 2002 the Ormond Beach Police Department became one of a select number of
departments in the state to earn accreditation by the Commission for Florida Law
Enforcement Accreditation, Inc. The
extensive, three-year accreditation process required compliance with more than
250 professional standards designed specifically for
Florida
law enforcement agencies.

In 2006, the department earned its first re-accreditation,
an even more extensive process in many ways than the initial accreditation,
confirming the department's commitment to maintaining its high standards.
