| The Municipal Airport is located on 1,164 acres of land
that was granted to the City in 1959 by the Federal Government. The Airport
facility includes two (2) active runways and six (6) taxiways that are fully
lighted. Aviation management and other flight support services are provided
through private operations including two (2) full service Fixed Based Operators,
an aircraft paint shop and maintenance facility. In addition, there are two (2)
non-precision instrument approaches and an FAA Vortac facility.
There are approximately 140 aircraft based at the airport with yearly enplanements of approximately 152,000. The Airport Business Park consists of 176 acres that was purchased from the Federal Government in 1959 for $59,000. The 176 acres are platted into 73 lots of which 57 have been sold with a total sales value of approximately $2 million. Twenty-nine (29) businesses presently operate in excess of 731,900 square feet of light industrial space with total employment of approximately 1,900 workers.The City's Economic Development Director promotes the development of the Business Park, coordinates land sales and assists prospective companies to locate at the Business Park. |
