Sexual Predator List
Presence in Ormond Beach
There are about 40 sexual offenders living in the Ormond Beach area, and generally 5-10 percent of them are designated by the courts to be sexual predators.
Definition
Sexual predators, according to F.S. 775.21, The
Florida Sexual Predators Act, are either repeat sexual offenders, sexual offenders who used physical violence, or sexual offenders who preyed on children.
Requirements & Ordinances
A Florida law, effective July 1, 1996, requires the
Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) to maintain an updated list of sexual sredators in this state after a court has made a written finding designating them as a sexual predator, as that term is defined by Florida statute.
Chapter 97-299, Laws of Florida, requires certain sexual offenders to directly register with law enforcement or to have information compiled by the Department of Corrections, with the information to be provided to FDLE. Florida law makes that information available to the public. The
FDLE provides you with online public information regarding sexual predators and sexual offenders.
For the City of Ormond Beach ordinances regarding sexual offenders and sexual predators, please see Section 23-3(a), Sexual offender and sexual predator residence prohibition; penalties; exceptions, in the
Code of Ordinances.
